Fashion designer Lizz Russell is known for her couture collection of glamorous gowns and elegant handbags. Russell reached out to jewelry designer Jenée Dionne to create pearl inspired pieces, which will be showcased at the esteemed venue. Jewelry created by Jenée Dionne is recognized for its uniqueness and shimmering glitz, as the inspiration of the Lizz Russell Collection resulted in high fashion accessories.

Here’s to a Fashion-Filled Weekend!

This past weekend was packed with adrenaline pumping intense moments all in the name of fashion. I was so thankful to have the exciting opportunities of participating in two runway fashion shows. Not only was the experience excellent for both my daughter and myself but, also a great means to showcase and brand the Jurney Jurray collection of handmade jewelry and accessories.

Our fashion show on May 17, 2013 was presented by Michael Keith of 112, who hosted the celebrity charity fashion show I’m Just Sayin’… in recognition of lupus awareness and survivors of the autoimmune disease. I participated as featured runway designer and had the honor of having lupus survivors model pieces of our collection.

The show was absolutely amazing and quite the adrenaline rush from backstage to the runway. The Jurney Jurray collection was featured second in a large line up of designer collections. Behind the scene preparation was sporadic and a bit chaotic with coordinating the model runway lineup, as designers shared models. Go time was very frantic because of the commotion and having shared models with the first designer now meant my models had to change quickly from her collection into mine. Initially I had 18 looks on the runway, but with two model no-shows who were both walking twice I had to make quick adjustments. In addition to the fast pace my daughter and I worked feverishly to get 12 looks on the runway.

Although it was a very scary feeling, I will admit that the intense high energy environment is an adrenaline rush that I could get used to. This was yet another great experience I was able to provide my 13-year-old daughter with, who is a fashion designer hopeful, and for that I am most grateful. This opportunity was very exhilarating to know that fellow fashion lovers were viewing my hard work and seemingly appreciating it. I was of course very nervous having to walk the runway after the beautiful models in my collection had done so before me, and all I could think to myself was PLEASE DON’T FALL…luckily I didn’t and I survived my nerves.

The following evening my daughter and I had another fashion show, presented by The McPherson Lawfirm. The annual White Party Event and Fashion Show Extravaganza raised funds for the homeless and homeowners facing foreclosure. Latanya McPherson put on an amazing and fun-filled evening with competing designers, who used pieces of our collection to adorn their runway models. In addition to the fashion show, two bachelors were bid on for a lunch date in a silent auction. This was a great event, as we were able to be onlookers of the fashion show and watch pieces of the collection sparkle down the runway.

Although this weekends events were nothing short of amazing, it honestly took a few days to recover from all the excitement. I am so grateful for each opportunity and hope to have many more, as we continue on our journey.

Designer Jenée Dionne partakes in The McPherson Law Firm’s annual charitable fashion show for the homeless and homeowners facing foreclosure.

STOCKBRIDGE, GA May 18, 2013— As Jurney Jurray, LLC the boutique of handcrafted jewelry and accessories continues to look forward to a fabulous year in fashion, owner and designer Jenée Dionne collaborates with upcoming apparel designers for The McPherson Law Firm’s runway fashion show.

The McPherson Law Firm hosts it’s second annual White Party Charity Event and Fashion Show Extravaganza May 18, 2013 at the Eagles Landing Country Club of 100 Eagles Landing Pkwy Stockbridge, GA. The event will feature live music from Atlanta’s own Blaque Pearl jazz band, as well as a silent gentlemen’s auction. The law firm’s event will also present a runway fashion show of competing designers for a cash prize. Proceeds of the eventful evening will be donated to homeless charities, as well as families facing foreclosure.

Jenée Dionne will collaborate with competing apparel designers to complete runway looks with Jurney Jurray jewelry and accessories. “I am so grateful that Ms. McPherson reached out to me for this event, it truly solidifies the lessons I seek to teach my children with regard to hard work paying off,” said Jenée Dionne owner of Jurney Jurray, LLC. “This is a great platform for all parties involved with a greater purpose of helping people in need.”

Founder and member of the R&B group 112, Michael Keith will celebrate lupus survivors, while spreading awareness in style with a fashion show venue that will be held at Le Fais Do Do of 1611 Ellsworth Industrial Blvd. Atlanta Friday May 17, 2013 8p-10p. The event is packed with surprises, as Michael Keith will be honoring a special guest and lupus survivor. The fashion show, which will donate proceeds to the Lupus Foundation, will showcase celebrities gracing the runway, as well as, a night filled with entertainment. Celebrities modeling the runway include Eric Dixon of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, recording artists Dondria, Cori Sims, Lundon “Da Bridge” Knighten, as well as, WNBA star Jasmine Thomas and many more.

A “Pick Me Up”

Every once in awhile, we all need a “pick me up” a means of hitting our refresh button to continue throughout our day.

My kids and I were preparing to head across town where I volunteer to teach artistic expression and creative writing, the tears were just falling as I looked at my gas tank on empty. All the thoughts and fears of my family’s needs not being met and future endeavors came rushing to the forefront. It suddenly occurred to me that I was needed elsewhere, and that I had to make it to see the beautiful mentees  and awesome mentors of Dream Power. Now able to take a confident breath of relaxation, I gave my worries to God and pressed forward.

I’ve had the opportunity to do awesome work with the girls, beginning with career development, healthy living and violence is not key. When I had a chance to talk to the young ladies of Dream Power, I was so encouraged by their words of conviction and strength, as well as their abilities to artistically express their feelings. This moment was my “pick me up” and for that I am grateful. My refresh button had been touched…”faith moves mountains.”

Gainesville Fashion Week Opening Night

Gainesville Fashion Week’s opening night Red Carpet and Art Show was nothing of amazing! The night was full of vibrant, fashionable ladies and gentlemen accompanied by an array of talent all under the roof of Vellos Brick Street Grill.

The beautiful people of Gainesville, FL posed then walked the red carpet, rocked out to live musical talent while surrounded by art, as the Gainesville Fashion Week models worked the room showcasing the artistic work of hair stylist Mary Park-Smith of Scissors Salon, Sheena Cuccia, as well as, handmade Jurney Jurray jewelry.

Having the opportunity to participate in this event is a step in the right direction. The GFW team made the participation process seamless, although we all know its a major task to organize a venue such as fashion week. GFW Talent Director, Kristine Straker, was always available for help, and I am most thankful for her assistance and assurance.

The models I selected to adorn in Jurney Jurray jewelry are absolutely stunning with matching beautiful personalities. Whitney Jones beamed as she was draped in feathers and crystals, while Erica Reed wore the fresh water pearl choker to perfection, Tanima Mehrotra wowed onlookers in natural shells, as Victoria Burney was simply beautiful and stoic adorned in obsidian jewelry. I am absolutely honored to have the beautiful ladies model my jewelry, and thankful that they were well-received by the crowd with complimentary feedback. In addition to my jewelry ensembles, the ladies were primped and prepped by the amazing hair stylist Mary Park-Smith of Scissors Salon, who was a joy to work with, as well as, makeup artist Sheens Cuccia.

Everyone was beautiful and in good spirits. My daughter and I were engaged with attendees, while making connections for future endeavors. We were interviewed by University of Florida journalism students of the Gainesville Sun and Gainesville Magazine as photographers snapped shots.

This was my first time in Gainesville, but it will certainly not be my last. I am most grateful to have this opportunity and would like to thank those who made this moment possible.
