I love the concept of mixed prints, however I’ve always been petrified of combining prints for fear of a NOT so harmonious outcome. Inspired by many designers who have successfully pulled off this alluring look, I went for it!
I admit, I played it safe attempting to avoid a fashion faux pas. By combining similar animal inspired prints, I then used contrast color blocking techniques for the peplum and bodice to magnify the prints. Now I’m fully aware that animal inspired print is somewhat of an acquired taste, but I wanted to be bold in preparation for an upcoming fashion show. I look forward to showcasing this mixed print peplum dress along with my latest designs on the runway at the Sweet Dreams Couture Fashion Show December 7, 2013 at Colony Square Mall in Midtown Atlanta.
The purpose behind Sweet Dreams Couture is iDream’s goal to make a positive difference not only in the immediate community but also in the international community as well. 100 percent of donations received will go towards providing a breakfast and lunch program to students at Scotts Hall Primary School and St. Alban’s Primary, which are both located in two of the most impoverished communities in Jamaica. As iDream challenges students in Atlanta to become global citizens, they are exposed to the poor conditions that other children around the world face and ways in which a difference can be made in their lives.
Jurney Jurray’s latest Etsy addition, the 26″ adjustable sautoir style necklace with a mix of varied hand-beaded pearls and crystals and a centered emerald cut crystal embellished by golden and silver chains.
This past Saturday (11/23/13) we were fortunate enough to have participated in the Fashion Addictz 2013 Fall Fashion Show at the TD Convention Center in Greenville, SC. Presented by Jameka Elaine and hosted by Moshua Loriel of Atlanta the vibrant show was full of fierceness, which I was grateful to be a part of. Jurney Jurray handmade jewelry, handbags and new women’s apparel graced the runway in style with classic and elegant pieces all with a bit of edge.
At the start of every event I am always nervous and excited. The 2.5 hour drive from Atlanta to Greenville, SC was nice and scenic with all of the warm fall colors in bloom. With my mom and children in tote, we arrived early while the models were running through the runway walk, which gave my daughter and I a chance to set up. As models came in for hair and makeup we grabbed them and did a quick fitting.
Next was the “Red Carpet!”
Then it was show time!

I was amazed and overwhelmed with joy! Unfortunately I was not able to showcase the 9 pieces I had planned for the runway due to timing as an outfit change from one designer to the next can get tricky, but that’s to be expected during the hustle and bustle of a fashion show. I am however very thankful and full of gratitude to the models who so perfectly gave my designs life.
Also I’d like to thank my family for being there with me and especially my daughter, Donyae, for assisting me and walking the runway in my time of need. Additionally I’d like to congratulate and thank Jameka Elaine again for putting on such an amazing show, Asia Palmer for being an awesome MUA to work with, the beautiful host Moshua Loriel who is such a doll with a bubbly personality and Keatley Jael Bland for rocking out everyone’s hair, as well as, the designers and beautiful models who brought all of our designs to life!
Here’s a look at the behind the scenes footage of Jurney Jurray’s full collection unveil at Fashion Addictz 2013 Fall Fashion Show in Greenville, SC. This was a great opportunity to showcase pieces of the collection, as the fashion show was a fiercely successful!
In lieu of my daughter’s affinity for British culture, I designed a fabulous satchel. I personally had a good time sewing with my daughter in mind. Due to the positive feedback The Euro Satchel is now available on Etsy.
Thankfully this family affair, better known as Jurney Jurray, will complete the year in a stylish fashion! As always the “mother daughter duo” will bring forth their talents participating in three upcoming fashion shows.

I simply love Etsy.com and the platform that it provides for artists to showcase and display their wares and works of art. Although I maintain a website for my handmade jewelry and handbags at jurneyjurray.com, Etsy provides a great meeting ground for artists and those who appreciate handmade goods. This connection is truly invaluable, as I am able to connect with people I may have never come in contact with. Please feel free to EtsyMe at https://www.etsy.com/people/jurneyjurray
